In celebration of the Société anonyme des artistes peintres, sculpteurs, graveurs, etc. at 150, the Impressionist Futures Group announces a roundtable discussion with curators, academics, and art market specialists from around the world.
Alexis Clark and Simon Kelly will moderate an online conversation with representatives from Bonhams, Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, Musée d’Orsay, National Gallery of Ireland, National Gallery of Victoria, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Learn more about the participants here.
In discussion with these specialists based in Dublin, London, Melbourne, New York, Paris, and São Paulo, "Impressionism at 150: New Views from around the World" will raise such questions as: What do twenty-first century audiences now look to see in impressionism? What new narratives about impressionism are being told on exhibition walls? How do histories of impressionism, past and present, compare across national, linguistic, and cultural lines? How does impressionism function as a global modern art in the global marketplace?
The roundtable will take place on 17 September at 7 a.m. ET/12 p.m. BST/9 p.m. AEST.
